Why myanmar?
We have a rich heritage that began in the early 80’s when our founding Pastor took his first mission trip to Myanmar to teach English in some of the most impoverished villages. That heritage continues today with the Karen & other tribal people who have found a refuge and a home here at Vineyard Boise since 2008.
We will only plant churches with indigenous leaders, in areas that no other church or Christian presence exists. Each pastor will be equipped with a theology of the Kingdom and a practice of compassion. So far, as of 2024, we have planted over 80 churches across Myanmar. The bulk of our efforts were during the open window of peace God gave the country before the Burmese military began attacking its people and civil war ensued. President Aung San Suu Kyi was kidnapped in 2021 and the violence shortly followed. So a lot of our church planters have fled their home regions or lost their lives in the violence. We are seeking God’s direction and strategy for moving forward as the gospel will not be silenced and often flourishes amidst persecution.
